Despite a bumpy economy, American spending on Halloween is hitting another an all-time high this year at a whopping $12.2 billion. Annually, as soon as it’s October, the National Retail Federation<\/a> releases a survey predicting how much will be spent on Halloween costumes, candy, decorations, and more. The survey also charts the most popular Halloween costumes<\/a> of 2023 (and every year before)\u2014and perhaps it’s no surprise that the classics tend to win out for kids, adults, and even pets, year after year. However, for 2023, there were 3 big exits on the Top 10 list (bye-bye Pumpkin, Pirate, and Superman) to make room for of-the-moment costumes like Barbie, Wednesday Addams, and Mario. Barbie also made her way onto the Top 10 list for adult costumes, scooting Dracula and the Devil off the list all together.<\/p>\n
